On June 26th, Bulgari inaugurated its new exhibition BVLGARI – The Story, The Dream. The two-part exhibition at the Palazzo Venezia and Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome retraces the history of the Maison through some 170 jewels, archive photos and films, as well as haute couture dresses that illustrate trends during different periods in Bulgari’s scintillating past.
The exhibition at Bulgari – The Story, The Dream unfolds at two separate venues, Palazzo Venezia and Castel Sant’Angelo, two of the Eternal City’s most iconic sites. At the Palazzo Venezia, the story begins with founder Sotirio Bulgari, who arrived in Rome in the late 19th century, looking back at the immense success that Bulgari has enjoyed since its creation. Castel Sant’Angelo showcases jewels worn by the many movie stars who loved Bulgari, along with Bulgari icons such as the Serpenti, Monete and Parentesi collections.
At both venues, Bulgari – The Story, The Dream is illustrated by photographs and vintage film clips from the archives, as well as newspaper articles that spotlight social trends that were unfolding around the Bulgari adventure. The exhibition brings together some 170 Jewellry creations from Bulgari archives and private collections, retracing the evolution of the company from a small family-owned business to a global luxury brand.
The Bulgari story is recounted in the broader context of the rise in popularity of Italian fashion and design, with its unique combination of originality, manufacturing excellence and rich traditions. The jewels are joined by 80 haute couture dresses from the private collection of Cecilia Matteucci Lavarini, a collector of haute couture and Oriental pieces, offering an elegant counterpoint to the style, illustrating the taste and trends of the different periods covered by the Bulgari story.
The most highly anticipated exhibition of the year in the Italian capital, ‘Bulgari: The Story, the Dream’, was officially inaugurated at a press conference at Castel Sant’Angelo on June 26th.
Bulgari Chief Executive Officer, Jean-Christophe Babin, made the announcement, which was followed by tours of both exhibition venues. The Luxury Hive, in collaboration with prominent media personality Diala Makki, covered the press conference and conducted interviews with both Babin and Lucia Boscaini, Bulgari’s Brand and Heritage Curator.
These interviews will be included in a forthcoming documentary that will explore the inspiration behind the exhibition and the preparation process, as well as the objectives of such initiatives and their importance in telling the story of the brand’s iconic style and unique creativity.
Also in collaboration with the Luxury Hive, high-profile dignitaries from the MEA region with long-standing connections to the arts and culture spheres, alongside other esteemed personalities, were received at Palazzo Venezia before attending a cocktail party on the terrace of Castel Sant’Angelo and a fireworks display.
